Food Security for ultra poor (FSUP)
Food Security for ultra poor (FSUP) was started in Januray 2009. This is a joint initiative of seven local partners like RDRS, CCDB, CDD, Leprosy Mission, GBK, UST, and GUK, and two international partners like Stichting Dark & Light Blind Care (D&L); The Netherlands and The Leprosy Mission (TLM); England and Wales and Channel Islands. PME of CCDB was actively involved in planning of this program with other organizations. This is a five-year project funded by European Commission (EC) though 20 percent of total fund will be provided by ICCO as the principal applicant. This program is being implemented in seven upazilas of Gaibandha district.
Major objectives
The overall objective is to contribute to sustained food security and improved livelihood through empowerment of Ultra Poor women in Gaibandha District. The Specific objective of this project is to achieve improved livelihood of Ultra Poor Women and their dependants through enhanced food security, income generating capacity, exercise of human rights, and disaster preparedness in Gaibandha District.
Major areas of Intervention
FSUP project has been implementing a series of activities under following four broad areas
· Income Generating Activities (IGA)
· Life skill support, Nutrition and Health Training
· Disaster risk reduction and management
· Advocacy & social mobilization.
